"Trains, trains, and more trains - A museum excursion !"

– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

On the penultimate day of our summer vacation, the four of us decided to tag along with our human master to visit the National Railway Museum in York.  To say that my train and vehicle loving husband was excited about this was be a GROSS understatement.  Plus Bruce was similarly keen as well now that I think about it.  Boy's and their toys, hey.

My stepsister and I knew this wasn't exactly a girly pursuit, but we were keen to embrace our hubby's interests none the less.  In actual fact though, the whole thing was far more interesting than we expected, and I was overwhelmed by the sheer size and scale of some of the trains on display.  The big black one on the poster behind Rocky in this photo was absolutely huge in real life, and I mean HUGE, even to a human.  When the lord and master stood alongside one of those red wheels it was STILL taller than she was ... My word !!  I personally felt even more tiny than normal after seeing that one, I tell ya.  But then, 12" is nothing compared to the size of the engines.

I think it's safe to say that the lads had a whale of a time getting to poke about and see all the trains up close.  Some of the highlights included getting to see the famous 'Stephenson's Rocket', riding on a simulator which recreated the record breaking 'Mallard' 126mph fastest steam train run from 1938 (A world record which still stands today), plus getting to see the actual royal carriages which were built for and used by Queen Victoria herself .... Oooooh, hey.

All in all we had a fab day out, and it was certainly a memorable adventure to look back on, as we were starting near the end of this fun holiday of ours.  Awwwwww ... It's wasn't quite over yet though ...

"Another day, another drive - Let's just avoid those little dark MOUNDS though !"

– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

It was wonderful getting to go off on our own occasionally (without any human interference from the lord and master), and it did give us dolls the perfect opportunity for more adventuring around the village and surrounding area too.

The quaint little cottages up here are so adorable, aren't they.  This particular one in the photo was sitting right on the edge of the wide open space of the moorlands as it happens ... Wow, what a lovely view, and a BIG back yard they have, hey.

We certainly enjoyed our drive.  But we still had to be mindful to avoid driving through the little steaming 'presents' which the MANY sheep in the area had left ... Sheesh, YUCKY !! ... Not just on the grass either, the paths and roads weren't safe from their icky mounds either, because the sheep just seem to roam freely around the Goathland village as and when the please ... I wonder why we didn't catch any in our piccys though ?  Hmmmmm ??  But anyway ...

Sometimes it was a touch like a slalom trying to avoid the treacherous dollops.  Gulp !!  However, in the end we turned it into somewhat of a fun game, which the guys in particular seemed to enjoy ... Oooh, there's one.  Quick, swerve !!

More vacation piccys to come another day ...

"An adventure climb across the bay !"

– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

Following on from yesterday's vacation snapshot ... During our day-trip to the pretty little fishing village of Staithes we spent ages exploring this scenic and interesting place.  After a while however, my stepsis and I were keen to rest our little plastic feet seeing as we'd walked around in heels all day.  Ouchy, I can’t speak for Marguerite, but my shoes were certainly a tad pinchy by this point, I must say.

So when we spotted these lobster pots stacked up along the sea wall whilst we were meandering along the opposite side of the bay, our husbands suggested THIS was the perfect place for us to sit and have a breather.  Thank heavens for that !! ... Or did those sneaky chappy's have an ulterior motive here after all ?  Hmmmmm ??

Personally I think they just liked the idea of having a climbing race to see who could reach the top first, because the certainly didn't do much SITTING themselves after they'd helped Margie and I climb up.  In fact, they seemed to treat it as some sort of assault cause challenge.  Deary me, hey, MEN !!

I must admit we had a wonderful view back across the bay from here though, and I guess as long as the guys were amused that left my stepsis and I to have a bit of a girly natter whilst we let the men-folk get on with their daft pursuit.

Thankfully my feet did recover enough to walk back up the BIG hill to the car as well.

If you're wondering who won the race though ? ... Ummmm, you know what, I have NO idea.  But Bruce and Rocky were BOTH in high spirits when they climbed back down again to us girls, so I'm sure it cant have been too bad either way.

More of my holiday photos to come another day ....

"Exploration, a little history, and a day out by the seaside !"
– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

It wouldn't have been a summer vacation without the obligatory trip to the seaside, would it ?  So my hubby, stepsis, new bruv-in-law, and I decided to tag along with our human master for the day to explore the pretty little seaside village of Staithes during our moorland getaway.

Sadly the tide was out when we arrived, and the sun had decided to hide itself away too.  But as you can see it was still a lovely picturesque place to visit none the less.

Apart from admiring the scenery though, Staithes has a rather interesting historical tie too as it happens.  Because it's most famous former resident, James Cook the explorer, worked in Staithes as a grocer's apprentice from 1745-46, and it is said that THIS is where he first gained his passion for the sea.

My partners in crime and I certainly had a bit of the James Cook spirit in us during our adventurous exploits of this quaint little fishing village, I must say.  But then, it's not like us dolls get to visit such interesting places every day, is it ?  So we were determined to make the most of this outing whilst we could !!

I'll show you another piccy of one of the MANY daft endeavours which we got up to in Staithes another day though ;) ....

"Taking a breather to admire the view !"

– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

Sometimes its fun to just sit back and appreciate the wonders of nature and the little (or perhaps somewhat BIG) things around us, isn't it.  So whilst my husband, sister, new brother-in-law, and I were enjoying a pleasant stroll up on the moorlands adjacent to the village, on one of the days during our little vacation getaway, we decided to stop for a break to admire this lovely tree.

Hang on a mo, isn't that the same chestnut tree which Rocky and I investigated whilst we were exploring around here a couple of years ago ? ... I'm almost SURE it is. The one that was planted in the 1930's to mark the jubilee of King George V, or something like that.  Hmmmm, wasn't he the current Queen's grandfather ? ... But I guess that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things however.  So anyway ...

How funny that we've come adventuring in the same directon as before though, hey.  But it is a pretty spot to rest my tired little plastic feet for a while, I must admit.

Mmmmmmm ... Peace ... Tranquility ... The sun's out, and watching the grass waving in the pleasant breeze around us ... It's heaven !  And certainly rather nice to get away from the bustle of everyday life occasionally too.

At least I'll be all refreshed and ready for the next big excursion after this ... The photos of that adventure will follow another day though ;) ...

** <3 The Happy Couple On Their Honeymoon <3 **
– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

Dont they look SO in love ?! ... Mmmmmmm <3

As much as the four of us were having a lovely time together on our summer vacation last week, let's not forget that this little trip away was also SUPPOSED to be Marguerite & Bruce's honeymoon too ... Awwwww <3.

With that in mind, Rocky and I made sure we gave the adorably loved-up newly-weds lots of space and time to themselves throughout the week.

For the most part though, my stepsis and her new hubby were quite content to join in with us during our little excursions and adventures.  However we did still catch 'em sneaking off for some much desired ALONE time every now and again too.  Funnily enough, they loved just sitting out in the back garden of the holiday cottage together for the most part, where they'd talk and admire the lovely flowers around them.  They make such a cute couple, dont they ? ... Bless !!

I simply HAD to get a piccy of them like this ... So I snuck out and took this this little impromptu photo when they weren't looking.  I'm sure they didn'y mind though, hey ?  Probably because they hadn't noticed what I was up to, but ummm ... Moving along ...

I think my innnocent sibling has certainly found the adjustments to married life somewhat surprising and eyeopening to begin with ... Ahem, yes well anyway ... But from what Rocky and I could tell from observing them together last week, Mr & Mrs Bruce are BOTH incredibly contented with their new situation as you can see from this photo ... Mmmmmm, happy sigh <3.

Oh, and if you're wondering about the little name stone beside the adorable pair here ?  We had that made up for them on our trip to Robin Hoods Bay earlier in the week.  It was a sort-of belated wedding/honeymoon gift for them, and of course the flower design was simply PERFECT for my floral loving sister too ... Isn't it cute ?!

There will be more photos from our adventures out and about on our summer vacation another day though.  So please do pop back again soon for the next holiday snapshot ;) ...

"Time for a little rest out of the sun ... In a TREE ?!"
– North York Moors Summer Holiday 2015 –

On this, the hottest day on record in England for nearly a decade (and in my little plastic life as it happens), I thought it was appropriate to show you all THIS little holiday snap from our vacation last week ... Yes we are hiding up in a tree out of the sun's somewhat intense rays, but it wasn't MY idea, honest ;).

Whilst in in general we dont get many scorching hot days here in the UK, you still have to remember that us little plastic dollies can only take so much heat and sun before we either start to fade, yellow, or even go a little melty ... Eeeek !!

So to ensure we wouldn't get too much sunshine whilst we were away we were alway on the lookout for nice little shaded spots, where we could have a breather out of the heat and UV rays from time to time ... THIS one was the guy's idea if you hadn't already guessed though.  Personally I think Rocky and Bruce just had a hankering to go tree climbing in this instance ... MEN, hey !!  But I must admit it was fun, and a lovely place to cool down too.

As you can probably tell, our handsome hubby's were rather keen to continue climbing on upwards too !  Deary me, you've gotta be kidding there ?  Apparently NOT though, oh well ... But Margie and I were quite content to sit here on the lower branches whilst we let em get on with it.

It's certainly funny how much more of the world you can see up here at human height, isn't it ?

Anyway, I think I'm gonna have a nice tall COOL drink now, and sit infront of the fan for a while before my limbs start to melt and distort ... Hmmmm, I wonder if my human overlord would mind me moving into the fridge until the heatwave passes ? ... Yeah, perhaps not.

There will be more of my vacation piccys and adventures to come another day though ;) ....
