♣♣♣ Happy St.Patrick's Day ! ♣♣♣

Ella_stpatricksday_2016f
I just wanted to wish a happy St.Patrick’s day to all my Irish fans, followers, and friends.
“May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

May your pockets be heavy
and your heart be light,
May good luck pursue you
each morning and night”.

May the luck O’ the Irish be with you!

** Yorkshire Dales Family Vacation - 2016 **

Family sled races and ski fun in the snow !

On our last day of this family holiday, we were woken to the unexpected sight of SNOW everywhere ... What fun, hey !

Of course, Ruby and Emma were dying to go out and play in it. Plus their father was equally keen now that I think about it ... Hmmmm ? But anyway, after a few squabbles between the girls about how to enjoy this unanticipated snow-day (Ruby wanted to build a snowman like Anna in Frozen, whereas Emma wanted a snowball fight), in the end it was Rocky who settled the debate, by suggesting that we should take this opportunity to have a little friendly family competition of sled racing !

Oooh-errrr, hey !

Naturally the girls thought it sounded like great fun, and all thoughts of snowmen and snowballs went straight out the window from there ... Phew !! Although, seeing as we only had two sleds, Emma decided she was too big to share ... Deary me, kids, hey. So the cheeky monkey opted to race us on her own using the ski's we found stowed away with the other winter gear ... I was admittedly a tad worried about the idea to begin with, however Munchkin number 2 seemingly took to skiiing like a duck to water, and once she was in the ski's and on the slope there was NO stopping my little Emmy either. Bless her.

As you can no doubt see here though, our keen little sport's-woman has certainly inherited not only her fathers fearless spirit, but his fierce competitive streak an'all ... I was certainly somewhat startled when I noticed my little girl whizzing past us on her way down the slope. Cutting in front of our sled's to secure her most desired victory, might I add ... Honestly !!

Emmy was chuffed to bit's, and Rocky was incredibly proud as well, so I decided to save the lecture about recklessness until ANOTHER time instead (insert despairing eye-roll here), hehehe.

After a few hours of fun though, we were absolutely frozen and soaked through. So we returned to the cottage with big smiles all round, despite the fact we were so numb that we could no longer feel our faces !

It was a wonderful last day of our vacation, and we spent the evening drying off and warming up in front of a lovely open fire, before finally packing up to return home again.

What a perfect family holiday we had in the Yorkshire Dales 2016 !

** Yorkshire Dales Family Vacation - 2016 **

Soaking-up the history, whilst exploring the grounds of a local castle !

Bolton Castle is a 14th century fortification, which is located less than 12 miles from our holiday cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. The castle is a grade 1 listed building which was damaged during the English Civil war, however much of the structure still remains intact to this day. We certainly had fun exploring both inside and out during our visit too. Although we were rather surprised to discover that the castle was actually colder INSIDE than out ... How odd, hey.
But anyway ...
Bolton Castle's most famous former-resident was probably Mary, Queen of Scots, who was imprisoned here for 6 months in the year 1568. So it seems the castle has seen it's share of royalty throughout the years. But then, I guess that's hardly surprising, considering it's a castle after all !
Rocky, the girls, and I enjoyed our little adventure a great deal. It was amazing to see how the wealthy elite lived hundreds of years ago. But even though I'm technically a princess, and as such supposed to feel at home in such grand historic structures as this, I have to say that I think I rather prefer the cosy and relatively modern comforts of my little dolls-house home, to a drafty, cold, damp, stone castle.
Mind you, apparently Ruby and Emma decided they wouldn't mind moving in and living like 'Proper' Princess's. Bless 'em, I'm sure they'd change their minds as soon as night fell though, and they discovered there was no heating, electricity, nor lights. Castle life was NOT as glamorous as we'd like to think, that's for sure !
However it's nice to look back and get a glimpse into those days of old none the less.
More holiday piccys to follow another day ...

** Yorkshire Dales Family Vacation - 2016 **
Discovering a hidden waterfall !

Another day, another of my holiday photo updates ... Here we have the picturesque sight of the Wensley Waterfalls, aptly located in the quaint little village of Wensley, this it is sort-of a hidden wonder of the area.
It was only by chance that we discovered this secluded little haven on one of our adventures out and about. Shielded from the view of passers-by, the falls are situated in a small sheltered gorge, which is unexpectedly sandwiched between the main road and an old 19th century watermill used by the Wensley candle makers, White Rose Candles.
This was too beautiful a sight NOT to stop for a photograph though, so that's exactly what we did.
Soaking up the lovely serene atmosphere, whilst listening to soothing sounds of the stream and water rushing by ... It was like a little piece of heaven carefully tucked away from the rest of the world, washing all our cares and worries away ! smile emoticon ... Until the girls got bored and it was time to move on of course. But sometimes them's the breaks.
It's certainly surprising, the hidden-treasures you can find when you're NOT looking for 'em though, isn't it ?

** Yorkshire Dales Family Vacation - 2016 **

Out for a stroll and a spot of fresh air !

Rocky, the girls, and I accompanied our human master for a nice little end of winter break last week, to the scenic countryside of the Yorkshire Dales ... And wasn't it pretty too ?!

What a wonderful feeling it was, getting away from the bustle of daily life for a bit. I think it's safe to say that we all enjoyed being outside and soaking up the picturesque scenery with it's rolling hills, whilst exploring these pleasant surroundings.

In case you're wondering, YES, my Leap Day piccy which I posted up last week was taken up here as well.

Anyway though ... We all had a thoroughly lovely time, but even though we're back home to the daily grind again now, I'll still be uploading a few more of my holiday snaps in the coming days.

So here we have the four of us stretching our legs and enjoying some quality family time on a bit of a slow ramble, whilst admiring the views and spotting all the local wildlife too of course ... Little Ruby in particular loved pointing out all the 'Sheepies', bless her.

Sometimes it's nice to just stop for a moment and simply take in some of that lovely crisp clean air though ... Mmmmmm, now that's what I call refreshing ! ... So where to next ? ...

** Happy Mothers Day - UK **

It's Mother's Day here in the UK today, and look at the lovely bunch of flowers and special book my two beautiful daughters, Emma & Ruby, presented me with for the occasion ... Awwww.

I was so moved by the whole thing I almost cried to tell the truth ... Sniffle.  But anyway ...

I'll just finish off now with a lovely quote from the book itself:

"A Mothers love and tender care make happiness bloom everywhere !".

Happy Mothers Day to all those special Mum's out there.

Love from,

Ella x
